Day 1
Kicking off this adventure in the airport in Denver,Colorado, participants will be met by the trip leaders. From there we will drive to the first campsite, a staging point before the next couple of days in Buena Vista,Colorado. Here we will get to know each other through games, learn how to put up the tents, and cook some dinner. This first night we will talk about what kind of adventures await us on the trip as well as a run down of cook groups, safety, and the “Day Chief” which will help out each day.
Day 2-3
Today we are headed to Buena Vista; home to some of Colorado’s best whitewater rafting. The first day we will be exploring the Collegiate Peaks while we get ready for our rafting day. On day three we will raft the Arkansas River where we will encounter rapids like Pinball and the Stair Case to name a few! Keep your eyes peeled you may see deer, billy goats, or big horn sheep. No matter what you see it is going to be a great ride.
Day 4-5
A quick drive over the 12,126 foot Cottonwood Pass will take us to the next destination on our journey. Taylor Reservoir is a beautiful blue oasis nestled in the mountains. We will be camping along the Taylor River, where you will hear the calming sound of the river as it lulus you to sleep in your tent. These days are going to be high flying fun. A high ropes course at altitude has some of the best views; a zip line that takes you through treed landscape will blow you away. Rock climbing in the Rockies is like no other, and here we will be able to join that group of rocky mountain climbers.
Day 6-8
We will be driving through the highest city in North America today on our way to our new campsite. The Mount of the Holly Cross Wilderness Area used to be the head of winter training for the military. Here we will prepare for our exciting “out camp” adventure. Our “out camp” will consist of a 4 mile backpack to Missouri Lakes. The lakes sit at the base of several 13,000 foot peaks with spectacular views. A night under the stars, your breath will be taken away as we tell stories, and bask in our accomplishment.
Day 9
Today is a change of pace for us, as we get on the highway and head to our last campsite near Idaho Springs. Here there are many great things in store for us as we recap the trip that we have just made. Our celebration day will be full of fun, talking with our new friends and telling stories about all the adventures we had along the way.
Day 10
Just like a good book, a great movie, or your favorite hoody all good things must come to an end. We drive to Denver to fly home, until next summer. Where will the next adventure take us? What new adventure will it be?
